Space applications are now easier to deploy and faster than ever – Ubotica Technologies and Unibap cooperate by integrating Ubotica’s CogniSat™ CVAI Toolkit™, powered by the Intel® Movidius™ Myriad™ X, with Unibap’s SpaceCloud®

The D-Orbit Wild Ride ION mission integrates, for the first time, the Ubotica’s CVAI Toolkit™ with Unibap’s SpaceCloud®, in order to accelerate Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence algorithms on-board.

The Wild Ride ION payload launched in June on a SpaceX Falcon X from Cape Canaveral, Florida, and began the mission demonstration phase on July 25th. During this phase the CogniSat™ CVAI Toolkit™ was successfully demonstrated on-orbit by running an AI application that performs direct segmentation of ships from EO imagery.

Ubotica has leveraged its extensive experience with the Intel® Movidius™ VPU to design the CogniSatTM suite of tools that unlock the hardware acceleration capabilities of the Myriad in order to build and deploy processing pipelines capable of performing pre-processing and AI inference workloads in a single embedded flow. Ubotica has recently integrated the Intel® Movidius™ Myriad™ X VPU into their CogniSatTM CVAI Toolkit™, enabling the deployment of Computer Vision and AI applications with state-of-the-art inference acceleration but within the extremely low power envelope demanded by CubeSats and small satellites.

Unibap’s SpaceCloud® Ecosystem captures the most vital tools for users to unleash the power of AI/ML on-orbit by providing state-of-the-art architectures and combining them with effective software tools to process data on-board satellites to change how data is shaped and used. This enables rapid development and deployment of applications on-board satellites to process data in a fast and power-efficient manner, making applications in Space faster than ever.

Together, Ubotica and Unibap are pushing the boundaries of SmallSat intelligence.
