Q: What will Ubotica be showcasing at Space Tech Expo Europe?
A: At Booth C54, the Ubotica team will be showing CogniSat – the most comprehensive, adaptable and power efficient solution for on-board edge computing for satellites. For Satellite System Designers, we will demonstrate the low power and low-cost benefits of CogniSat applications.
For AI Application Software Developers, we will be showcasing how easy it is to deploy your AI models in space on-board CogniSat.

Q: Why is Space Tech Expo Europe an important event for Ubotica?
A: Between the 15-17 November, we will join the European space community at Space Tech Expo in Bremen, Germany. This is the fifth year of the Expo which is Europe’s largest B2B event for the space industry. It is a must-attend event in the space calendar, a truly global event that escalates the industry to new heights year-on-year in an unparalleled showcase of the latest technologies, networking opportunities and topical debates. It is a fantastic opportunity for us to meet new and existing customers and partners in a concentrated and efficient way.

Q: What is CogniSAT-XE1?
A: The Ubotica CogniSAT-XE1 Edge Compute Board brings the power of Edge CV and AI compute acceleration to a PC/104 form-factor for smallsat and cubesat missions. It is built around the Intel® Movidius™ Myriad™ 2 Computer Vision (CV) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) COTS VPU whose 12 vector cores provide high-performance parallel and hardware accelerated compute within a low power envelope.

Q: How flexible and integration ready is CogniSAT-XE1?
A: CogniSAT is Flight Proven – Technology Readiness Level – TRL9. It is adaptable for AI and computer vision deployments. CogniSAT-XE1 combines the power efficient compute of the Myriad 2 VPU with a wide range of interfaces and peripherals, providing broad flexibility for integration into satellite platforms. Either Gigabit Ethernet or USB2.0/3.0 can be used as the primary control and data interface to the board, enabling data rates sufficient to handle many CV and AI applications at near-streaming throughput.

Q: What CogniSat applications will you be showcasing?
A: We will have a few applications running including cloud removal and compression and we will be showcasing the real-time Bandwidth and Latency Savings available through use of edge compute AI processing using CogniSat.
